In June, we called for Latin American founders to support our intent by providing a rich perspective strengthened by data and secured by method. Now its time to know the Researchers and their subjects.
A couple of weeks ago, during June, we called for Latin American founders to support our intent by providing a rich perspective strengthened by data and secured by method. The researchers, founders, and enthusiasts would receive $1000 cUSD for the research and another $500 cUSD to organize a meetup to present the results.
The researchers aim to supply data for a future pilot regarding the same topic that they applied. The research will occur between August and October, and the results should be available in November.
Now, we’re happy to introduce the three teams conducting the research with us.
Apart from being the founder of DeTrash and the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bahia, Phillip Teles von Hauenschild is not new to Celo as DeTrash has already conducted pilots mixing UBI (Unconditional Basic Income), recycling, and education in Brazil with GoodDollar and Blockchain Na Escola.
Pedro Parrachia is the founder of Flouristic and Cerne and an OG in the Coordination Game. Don’t you wonder who are those people behind all the fantastic techniques that make a team work smoothly? Pedro is “those people”.
Both Phillipp and Pedro are two OGs of the ReFi ecosystem worldwide. Both have led global teams and coordinated with high-profile organizations (such as UNESCO and Moss.Earth) to promote efficient coordination and a cleaner world.
Their research aims to understand the landscape of initiatives at the intersection of education, inclusion, and Web3 in Latin America. But they won’t stop there; by mapping current projects and best practices, they will identify how we can extend these benefits to other underrepresented groups.
Three of their focus within the research are Afro-Brazilian Initiatives, Neurodivergent Accessibility, and Intergenerational Learning.
Kairos Research is a Global-Local team; while addressing the most complex challenges in the scope of Web3, they remain attached to the priorities (both in terms of challenges and opportunities) of the surroundings, and by “surroundings” here, I mean Latin America. Their team went through the second batch of Celo Incuba in 2023, and by now, we’re very proud of having them on board again with CeLatam.
They will deep-dive into the tokenization of Real-World Assets, focusing on Latin America., providing a landscape view of the technology, the regulatory context, and a comprehensive market outlook for the financial services, industry, energy, and real estate sectors.
This amazing team will be supported by the Brazilian researcher and Activist Lawyer Verber Souza, a low-profile OG of crypto in Brazil. Verber has been dealing with crypto since 2015. Currently, Verber is a Coordinator at AEDAS, a consultancy agency working to ensure that one of the largest mining companies in the world, Vale do Rio Doce, will be held accountable for destroying two cities and a river that served as an income source for more than 200 cities from the mountains of Minas Gerais to the ocean in Espírito Santo. Not all heroes wear capes; some need glasses and are very shy.
Bamba Labs is a tech hub at the heart of Rio de Janeiro, two minutes from the paradisiacal beach of Ipanema where Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes composed one of the most famous songs in history: The Girl From Ipanema.
They have a diverse team of activists, builders, developers, VC managers, and enthusiasts. They will explore the potential of current stablecoins such as cReal and USDC to promote social development and public goods in Latin America. Apart from creating knowledge, the main focus of their research is to provide us with the conditions for a stablecoin pilot in Rio de Janeiro.
We are very proud to unite such outstanding teams for this first work.
