Hacking Growth in Latin America: Regenerative Finance, Real World Assets, and Stablecoins.

In the past two months, we’ve embarked on a journey of discovery through three focused research initiatives. Our aim: to unveil potential pathways for blockchain solutions in Latin America that benefit the communities, economies, and ecosystems within this vibrant region.

This exploration has been made possible thanks to the dedicated work of three teams, our Research Grantees, namely; Bamba Labs, Kairos Research (with support from Verber Souza of ReFaz), and the combined efforts of DeTrash and Floristic.

Each team has brought unique insights into Regenerative Finance, Real World Asset tokenization, and the growing use of stablecoins in Latin America and Brazil. Bamba Labs shed light on the transformative potential of stablecoins for financial inclusion, while Kairos Research explored the growing landscape of tokenizing real-world assets—especially relevant given Latin America’s rich resources. DeTrash and Floristic mapped the possibilities for Regenerative Finance (ReFi) in Latin America, revealing ways blockchain can support environmental and social regeneration.

This summary reflects the opportunities these findings open for the Ethereum, Superchain, and Celo communities, highlighting the immense potential for positive impact and mutual growth in the region.

Some of the key findings are:

  • The three leading sectors when it comes to tokenization of Real World Assets in Latin America:
    • Financial Services
    • Energy Sector
    • Real Estate
  • Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Argentina are the countries leading the regulation of RWA tokenization in the region.
  • According to Susan Strange's Nexus Matrix, the sectors of the economy with the highest tendency to adopt ReFi and Web3 are Consultancy and Services.
  • There are up to 100 Regenerative Finance initiatives bridging the gap between Finance and Regeneration in Latin America.
  • The unbanked population, smallholder farmers, and refugees in Brazil represents challenges that stablecoin issuers can potentially answer with the support of local initiatives.

We invite you to explore the full summary and dwelve into each research report.

Your feedback is invaluable to shaping the next steps in our journey toward sustainable impact.

Special thanks to Marcelo Silva, who led the research; Rafael Moura, who provided the design, Susanne Zarpellon, and Camila Rioja, whose expert review and valuable insights brought this summary to life and guided the vision for what’s possible for blockchain and impact across Latin America.

Together, let’s continue to innovate and build bridges for real-world impact.
